It is a fact that people blink an average of 15 -20 times per minute. All this blinking is not just to keep irritants and debris from getting into our eyes. Some of it is to actually give us a momentary relaxation if you will from all the outward stimulus. This information confirms the notion that everything can change in the blink of an eye. Especially when you do the math to realize that 10% of our waking hours are spent with our eyes closed.

In the blink of an eye each of us has the ability to turn things around no matter what our current circumstances are. It only takes that amount of time and the right frame of mind to produce solutions to problems that seem insurmountable. If we are not careful the opposite can happen as well. By not paying attention to what is around us we could easily lose our stronghold on our ability to maintain our position in the world.

In 1986 a woman named Marylou Sandry concluded an 18 year career as a business woman working for someone else. She decided to try her hand at opening her own business. She opened a coffee shop on the South Shore of Boston Massachussetts. She did something rather unusual with this shop. She painted the interior “Pink” and the outside a combination of black and pink. She hired young women to work at her store in pink T-shirt.s. Along with a great cup of coffee and muffins, she was off to a fabulous beginning. In the blink of an eye she had a string of these stores all along the South Shore extending into Cape Cod.

Ms Sandry managed to dominate an area that had remained untouched by the ever present Dunkin Donuts. Before her competition had a chance to move in, all the choice locations were taken. This is what can happen in “The Blink of an Eye.”
